This article is called "how not to work at work". I'll talk about it here, as well as how to find a job that does not have to work hard. But, be patient, first I will write why all this is needed.

Many people desperately want to change their occupation and lifestyle. Some are looking forward to the prospect of starting their own business. Others want to organize a remote income so as not to be tied to one place and work, for example, within walking distance from huge tropical beaches. Others just want to change their profession.

Many people are simply not satisfied and want to change something, but don't know how. After all, to develop your project, you need time and free money, those things that every person does not have. And it's not just that people are afraid of change. But in how they are drawn for them in their minds.

Fear of change

Some think that these changes must be preceded by global preparation, careful planning and a lot of time and money. It seems to them that they had only one attempt in their life, but they used it up, and for them the train has already left. Their work does not give them a chance to do something of their own, since the latter will require those resources that a person does not have. After all, it will be necessary to deal with some business closely, seriously, invest in full and bear great risks, but there is no way for this, because you have to feed your family. “I should have thought earlier,” they sum up.

To others, it seems that change comes suddenly, like a storm in the tropics. To change your life completely, to abandon everything of the past and move forward towards the unknown. For example, to leave in the middle of the working day, waving goodbye to the surprised bosses and colleagues to some warm country. This unknown frightens someone, and someone dares to rush there, but sometimes fails due to the lack of a springboard for the implementation of their plans.

But my path here to India, where I work remotely, lay between two extremes. I did not see the need to immediately do some kind of “serious” project, attract investments and quit my main job. At the same time, I didn't want to jump into the unknown.

My life changes began gradually. They began to be implemented not immediately under the tropical Sun, but within the walls of the Moscow office where I worked. Since there was not much work, most of the working time I spent hours pointlessly: watching movies, reading humorous websites, corresponding with friends. The latest in the film industry was posted on the corporate server, and it seemed that the management itself encouraged this kind of "activity."

But then I realized that I don’t want to work like this for the rest of my life! Some changes are needed! But what to do? Should I quit because I have so much free time at work? Maybe it's time for me to use it for business?

Your employer is your investor

Indeed, starting a business requires investment. But investments are not only means for hiring employees, using the services of third parties. Investment is also time. Even if you work alone, you need something to eat and somewhere to live while your business does not bring any financial return. Funding needs to be found for this as well.

But why look for some kind of investor, be in his debt, when your employer can be an investor in your business? (of course, if the initial costs are small). You can safely work in your office on your project, where there is free Internet, tea and coffee. And the salary will provide you with food and housing while you are doing this!

That's what happened to me. I started implementing my website and related projects while I was working in the office. And I did this within the walls of the office, no less than three years! At first I was just "looking for myself", reading about different types businesses, including online. There was even a plan to become a professional poker player! My goal was not just to find a different way to earn money, but to radically change my life and what I do. The prospect of compiling spreadsheets in Excel or writing technical specifications for computer programs before retirement was not very bright.

There's something missing here

Only then came the idea to make a website about self-development. I was inspired to do this by studying Steve Pavlin's site. And I was inspired not only by his experience of creating such a popular English-language resource, but also by the fact that when I read the articles, I already thought: “Yes, that’s all right, but something is missing here, something very important.” With the same thought, I read sites of other subjects.

Now, I already understand that many human undertakings came from the thought: “something is missing here ...”

Self-development and meditation were what my soul really lay in, what I wanted to do. And I just wanted to see what would come of it. Even if there is no significant income, this experience will still be useful, not only for me, but also for the people who read me. I had to start somewhere.

And now my working time was spent on learning how to make websites, how to fill and optimize them, etc. etc.

And the nature of my work in the office provided me with the perfect springboard for my dreams to come true.

I often read about bright young people dropping out of college because the job prospects in their specialty scare them. But even if you are disgusted by the upcoming office work, it is still better to graduate from the institute. And make your work a springboard for your new and bold undertakings. So you protect yourself from many problems.

(Despite the fact that I do not like working in an office, I understand that it can teach a lot. And the office is different from the office, of course. Such work is not always unbearable. It all depends on the place, team and other factors.)

But for your employer to serve as an investor for your new projects, one important condition must be met. All working hours should not be occupied with work. If more than 30 - 50 percent of the time you do nothing at work, then this is already very good.

How to find such a job? This will be discussed in this article.

How to find a job where you don't have to work?

If you already have such a job and want to change your life, then quit wasting time! Look for new perspectives and opportunities! I will give recommendations on this matter in this article.

I wrote such a long introduction in order to make it clear why you need not work at work. Not for sitting out your pants and laziness, but for new changes and perspectives!

The tips that I will post are based only on my own experience in finding a job and, accordingly, working in an organization where I did not have to work hard. And this experience is certainly not comprehensive. Therefore, I will be glad to read your advice and observations regarding this topic in the comments. Your experience can be very useful for someone! I don't think this topic is widely discussed anywhere.

So, it is better to find out about the possible amount of work before hiring.

Interview

Of course, the question: “How much will I have to work, otherwise I want to do something of my own at the same time” should not be asked at the interview. But you can figure it out indirectly.

It is obvious that the questions: “how do you feel about overtime”, “do you do a good job in a rush job?” indicate that, most likely, you will have to work.

In some companies, rush and overtime is the norm. Take a closer look at the atmosphere inside the office: the tense look of people (and the HR who interviews you), the general rush and fuss, the incessant slamming of doors should alert you.

And the relaxed conversations of employees about abstract things, smiles, silence, calmness and slowness are good signs. It was this atmosphere that reigned at my last place of work, where I devoted most of my time to creating and maintaining my sites, publishing materials.

Company

As for the company, according to my personal observations, most of the work is in large Western corporations. They also consider a person as a resource. And if this resource is "idle", it means that it is used inefficiently. And with efficiency in Western firms, everything is fine.

Therefore, you do not need to look for a too "efficient" office. But also you should not find a completely sloppy company. It is clear that even in very small companies there can be a lot of work, since there are few employees.

The firm must feel confident in the market, which will indicate that it has enough money to support a large staff, pay all of them a salary, and not dump a lot of work on a small number of people.

Also, the company must not be Japanese/Korean. In such firms they like to work without a break for 12 hours a day.

Job title

As for the position, here, probably, analytical and creative professions play better. Where there is no constant "loading" and there are strategic, not current tasks. given certain time for their implementation, which you dispose of at your own discretion. Although I don't think it's a strict rule. There are people in these professions who have so much work that you can't do it even in an eight-hour working day. Probably, everything depends more on the organization of work, on the total number of tasks and how much they want to load you.

All these items can indirectly give information about the amount of work. But this is not always possible to determine before you actually started it. But you have a trial period. And remember, this period is given not only for the employer to take a closer look at you, but also for you to evaluate the employer.

Probation

First day

Much can already be understood on the first day.

Bad sign: they are in a hurry to strain you with work. Your boss is constantly rushing a technical service employee to finally set up your computer and network.

A good sign: the first days pass in a relaxed way. They are not in a hurry to give work, they just gently bring them up to date. Or they give some kind of easy task to somehow keep you busy, for example, to study corporate documents. I always found it a little funny when my superiors in a new place tried to puzzle me with something, only, as it seemed to me, out of fear that I would be bored.

If in the first days at a new workplace you sit almost completely on your own, then this is very good! Also on the first day, you can take a closer look at the atmosphere in the team and how the situation with the Internet is. It is also a very good indicator of the amount of work.

Internet

Bad sign: many sites on the Internet are blocked. It's even worse if everything is closed and there is no Skype and AiCiQ. Since an employee is not given a completely fair right to read the news or buy goods on the Internet in his free time, then there is no free time. So, don't expect mercy!

A good sign: only VKontakte, classmates and all sorts of torrents are blocked. The rest is open. It is even better if a corporate channel with films and music is open for employees. ICQ and Skype are installed on the computer without any problems. Or they are already installed. You can already rejoice if you got into such an organization.

But do not quit your job if there is no Internet, and they give you a lot to do? What if they pay really well? Don't be discouraged! All is not yet lost! The problem with the Internet can be solved by installing the Tor client. And there are a couple more ways to reduce the amount of work that I will talk about.

How not to work at work

Life hack 1: Set your pace

Were you given a probationary assignment? If you see that it is not urgent, then do not rush to “turn it in” as soon as you have finished. Pull a little more time, but not too much, and only then show the authorities the work done. What for? To show how fast you are at completing tasks. Different people perform work at different speeds, and this is normal within acceptable limits. You need to show that you are not super fast. Not only so that you are not in a hurry to puzzle with something new. And to demonstrate that you are busy with something all the time, and do not sit and get bored after doing the work.

And then you can take advantage of this and leave some of the time spent in the office for your personal affairs.

Life hack 2: Plan your work and your affairs

The question from the series “how to work less and do more” requires a separate article, so I will not touch on this topic in detail here. But you must remember that good planning of your affairs will allow you to get more done, both at work and on your projects. Start your day with the most important, and leave secondary tasks for later. Set yourself goals and a time frame for meeting those goals.

Life hack 3: Synchronize

If it is possible to arrive earlier and leave later, you can get to the workplace before your boss. And you will have a time when no one will distract and control you. Also do not recommend going to lunch with everyone every day. If possible, choose another time to eat. While everyone is at dinner, you can safely go about your business.

Lifehack 4: Get busy

As I wrote above, I do not urge you to free up the amount of working time to suffer nonsense. And if you will be doing business, there will be no need to portray "heavy work activity." Graphs, formulas, program code on your monitor look much more solid than funny pictures or videos, even if they are not related to your work. So keep working, even if the job isn't what you're paid for.

Lafhack 5: Disguise yourself

It will be cool if your side project is similar to what you do at work. For example, you are a Java programmer, but you decide to make your website in PHP. I think if you are programming a website at work, then not everyone will notice that you are doing a side business using a different programming language.

Important!

The purpose of this article is to help people change their occupation and lifestyle without risking everything at once, and not a guide to parasitism. Many have probably already put an end to their dreams, thinking that it is impossible to combine their business with hired work. This is far from true. I do not call to destroy and break the wall that separates you from your dreams. You can seep through rocks drop by drop.

I also do not urge you to treat your work irresponsibly and not complete the tasks that you are given. Take the initiative, work hard, just leave some time for your personal projects. People work in offices for at least 40 hours a week (this is not counting lunch, travel time, possible overtime). As a result of such many hours of work, not only time burns out, but also the forces that you could devote to something else. It is only fair to dedicate at least 5 or 10 hours of those 40 hours to the realization of your personal life transformation plans. This will be much more beneficial for you than watching movies or spending time on entertainment sites.

At the same time, I understand that such work is not available to everyone. Someone has to work really hard to provide for their family, and there is little time left for anything else. I know it. Therefore, this article does not claim to be universal. I just hope that someone who has the opportunity to find a more "free job" will find it useful.

But I didn't answer the most important question. What to do, if not work, sitting in the office? But this is also a topic for a separate article. I'll give you just one piece of advice. At the beginning, it may seem that the way of life and work that you lead has no alternatives. But this is only at first glance. Rarely do ideas come immediately. Take time to study the situation options work, sort through as many of them as possible, learn about latest trends market, talk to people who have opened their own business. At the same time, your project does not necessarily require significant investments. Everything comes gradually. First you decide to quit your office and teach languages via Skype, and then after a couple of years you open your own company dedicated to teaching languages. Everything is possible!

Of course, it is not necessary to devote time to your business at all. Free time at work, you can just spend well
.
For example, to improve within your current specialty or simply engage in self-development, learning and creativity. All in your hands!

When I graduated from college ten years ago, I got a job ...

Where and how to look for a job? How to quickly get a good job without education and experience? How to find a job to your liking?

We will tell you what steps you need to take in order to solve the issue of employment for yourself in a short time.

Even the difficult times of the economic crisis are no reason to give up. And in difficult times, it is quite possible to find a job, you just need to know where and how to look.

This article will be useful both for people who have little work experience behind them, and for experienced professionals in their field. Everyone will find a lot of useful and effective tips for finding the job of their dreams.

So, let's begin!

1. How to find a good job and where to start looking

According to the Ministry of Labor, unemployment growth was recorded over the past month (January 2016) in most subjects of the Federation. The Ministry of Economic Development predicts an increase in the number of unemployed by 400-450 thousand people this year.

This number can be safely added to those 3.9 million people who are already registered as unemployed citizens.

However, surveys of personnel services inspire some optimism: a quarter of all companies plan to increase their staff this year, although they are going to hire only the most energetic and competent employees. How to find a job in such a situation? Where to look for work in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities?

Where do you even start looking?

The first thing you will have to learn for yourself is that you will have to look for a job on your own - no one will do it for you. Although you shouldn't rely too much on the help of friends and relatives, telling them that you are looking for a job is your first task. Do not overestimate the help of employment agencies either: they are certainly useful, but they have their own interests and not every one of them fulfills its functions by 100%.

First, ask yourself a few important questions:

  • What kind of job do you want to find?
  • What schedule will suit you?
  • What salary do you expect?
  • Will you be able to work away from home and what would be your daily travel time allowance?
  • Will work change the quality of your life for the better?

Once you have prioritized, you can begin to take action. If you are clear about what you want, you will be less likely to get a job that you want to leave in the first week.

And it’s also worth immediately identifying unpromising areas - places where, firstly, they don’t wait for you, and secondly, even if they do, they will offer you the minimum wage.

A couple of years ago, the most unpromising in terms of career were considered: science, utilities, culture, sports, security. Today, according to experts, the recession threatens banking and tourism. This will significantly increase female unemployment.

According to forecasts, a decrease in the number of mortgages issued could reduce construction, which will cause an increase in unemployment among men.

The male part of the population has nothing to "catch" in the automotive industry either (at some factories there are already only 1 shift left, and salaries have fallen by 20%). The staff in the field of auto sales will be reduced, however, some increase in vacancies in the auto repair business is expected.

The stagnation in the catering sector will drive thousands of waiters and cooks out onto the street. Unemployment will rise among makeup artists, stylists, beauticians, hotel industry workers. Among office workers, a reduction in lawyers and economists is expected due to overproduction over the past 2-3 years.

All other areas are relatively promising.

2. Where to quickly find a job or part-time job

Exist quick ways job search for students and people with no experience. We have collected in this section practical advice, which will help temporarily find a job for those who need a quick income, but do not have professional skills.

Student with no experience

There are thousands of offers on the Internet for graduates and university students. You should not be particularly happy with the number of offers: not all vacancies promise really stable income. Students are usually offered low-paid and labor-intensive activities:

  • promoter;
  • courier;
  • waiter;
  • Sales Manager;
  • animator;
  • guard (watchman).

Some types of work involve exclusively seasonal employment, which is just in hand for students during the summer holidays. With the advent of the worldwide web, job searches have become much easier and more efficient. Now it has become easier for a student without work experience to find a vacancy. We have already written, this article discusses, among other things, options for earning money through the Internet for young people.

Few people continue to use print publications (although it is too early to discount newspapers and magazines devoted to vacancies): just go to the resource and get acquainted with the offers that are already sorted into categories and sections. You can even create a detailed resume and post it on job search portals, perhaps employers will choose your candidacy.

Without education

Work without education involves approximately the same vacancies as in the case of student part-time work - couriers, security guards, waiters, loaders, workers in supermarket trading floors. Do not count on the special generosity of employers and do not rush to respond to the first offer that comes across.

To get started, study all the vacancies that you liked, make a list of the offers you are interested in, arranging them in order of personal attractiveness.

Weigh all the pros and cons and do not be afraid to say “no” to the employer if the vacancy has ceased to interest you for some reason (far from home, night shifts and other nuances). Do not be afraid if you are offered pre-training. So you will gain experience and skills that can be useful in the future.

Even as an intern, you can be persistent and quickly get a better position in the same company. We have already published an article about part-time jobs on our website, we recommend that you read it.

In crisis

The difficult economic situation is changing our lives. Above, we have already cited statistics on unemployment and layoffs in certain areas. AT this moment there is a clear violation of the balance of supply and demand in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, and other cities of the Russian Federation.

How to find a job in a crisis? There is only one option - to be active in the search for vacancies: post resumes not on one Headhanter site, but at least on 3-5 portals. Employers' budgets for finding employees are also limited, and searching through recruitment agencies is mostly paid for by employers.

The right approach to the job search business is half or even a large part of success.

It is not so important whether you have experience and knowledge, whether you graduated from a university or only 9 grades of school, the main factor is self-confidence, awareness, desire to develop and improve. Our tips will also help you find a good job - read them carefully and be sure to use them in practice.

Tip 1. Be persistent and methodical - do you want to LOOK for a job or FIND one?

Perseverance, methodicalness, systematic approach and theoretical training are the leading success factors. Decide what you really want - search job or find her?

"I'm looking for a job" is a good psychological shield against claims from family members and relatives. Do not forget that looking for a job is only necessary in order to find it, improve the quality of life and change financial status.

Important: looking for a job is also a kind of work! It should be approached as seriously and responsibly as any work. Once you've written your resume, don't forget to update it and post it on multiple sites. Send it to all employers who are at least theoretically interesting to you. It doesn't matter if you seem pushy - companies tend to appreciate persistent and energetic employees.

illustrative example

One of our acquaintances named Victor has been looking for work for about a year and a half, but has not yet found a place.

Searching for vacancies has become his kind of daily ritual. He regularly browsed job search websites, wrote out phone numbers and company data, and often called potential employers. Sometimes I even went to interviews.

Even if he was quite satisfied with the salary and other factors, he still found some point on which this work didn't suit him.

The boss is a woman, the office is not in a prestigious area, there is no cooler in the workplace. In other words, Victor simply did not want to get a job, but wanted to look for it and create the appearance of activity.

With this approach, the chances of improving your life are certainly minimal.

Tip 2. What is better to choose - a highly paid job or a job you like?

The ideal, of course, is to have a high-paying job that you enjoy. But in practice, a highly profitable place is not always to your liking.

The question posed in the title of this paragraph, each decides individually.

Psychologists insist that it is better to do what you like, even if this business does not bring high income right away.

  • Firstly, any work involves the development of professional skills. Perhaps at the moment the salary is not too high, but by improving your skills and level, you can always count on an increase in income.
  • Secondly, go to work that you do not like, like hard labor, experiencing negative emotions, unhealthy.

The immune system directly depends on our psycho-emotional state: it has been proven that people who are engaged in an unloved business and perceive work as a “necessary evil” are more likely to get infectious and chronic diseases.

A person spends a significant part of his life at work. Do you want to be constantly depressed, complain about life, sleep poorly and count the minutes until the end of the working day? We are sure not.

So, make a choice in favor of the vacancy that you personally will like, and not your husband (wife, mother-in-law, dad, mom).

Tip 3: Use as many different job search options as possible

Diversify your search as much as possible. The more job search methods you use, the higher the chance of success. In the next section of the article, we will take a closer look at them, pointing out the advantages (and possible disadvantages) of each of them.

There are certain rules for writing a resume that should be followed if you want to impress the employer as a prepared, purposeful and serious person. A resume is the first thing an employer bases his conclusions on when considering a specific candidate for an applicant.

The resume should be:

  • Concise and containing only relevant and important information. The employer usually does not have time to read your detailed and detailed essays, so the information should be placed as concisely, effectively, and correctly as possible. Don't describe your life path in the column "about myself", starting from kindergarten. It should contain information useful to the employer, emphasizing your professional merits or testifying to the ability to work in a team.
  • Written without errors and logical inconsistencies. Even if you are hired as a turner at a factory, you must show yourself to be a competent and responsible person: fortunately, at present, it is not difficult to check the text for errors. The ability to present information in a logical and structured way is a quality that is valued in any position.
  • Smartly designed. Each column in this document is assigned a specific place. If you write about professional and personal qualities in one section or if you are careless in the design of your resume, HR specialists are unlikely to bombard you with interview invitations.

The resume must include: personal and contact details, wishes for future work, experience, professional skills, education, awards and diplomas of a professional nature.

Fraudsters - in this case, companies that either want you to work for free or hope to get your money. Online scams are especially common. Distinguishing honest employers from scammers is not easy: scammers know how to inspire confidence and impress.

The most correct rule

If someone wants you to transfer a certain amount of money to an account (down payment, loyalty check, payment teaching aids or materials), you are likely to be bred.

Tip 7. Prayer for work is your extra helper

Prayer-appeal to the Orthodox Saint Spyridon Trimifuntsky helps believers find a good job.

This saint and miracle worker, who lived at the beginning of our era, helps those in need to gain confidence, independence, and find their life's work.

They pray to Saint Spyridon during life's troubles, financial difficulties, in the absence of work.

To the bank

This direction has always been of interest to people who dream of a career, stable earnings and high profits. Experts predict some decline in this direction in the coming years: most likely, ordinary workers will be laid off - line managers, cashiers, and so on.

There are no strict education requirements for consultants and tellers (front-office workers). As a rule, students of economic and law universities, people with managerial experience, come to banks.

In banks, there are a lot of starting positions for which people can be hired without experience. In 1-2 years, many young people manage to grow vertically or horizontally in terms of career. True, it is not necessary to count on very large salaries for employees without experience. However, a year or two can be tolerated for the sake of a future career.

Rotational method

Builders, drivers, bulldozer drivers, tractor drivers and representatives of other specialties, whose skills are required in the harsh conditions of the Far North and the Arctic, work on a rotational basis.

The essence of the shift method is simple: a team goes to work for 1-3 months and performs its duties on the job - living in temporary housing at construction sites, mining or processing of minerals.

Theoretically, any person of the required specialty, ready to work in harsh conditions, can be hired as a shift worker.

Warning

People seeking to find work on a rotational basis may run into a "scam" - firms that collect supposedly "entry fees" from "future employees" for registration.

To avoid this, work only with those companies that have representative offices.

Abroad

To get a job abroad (we are not talking about China and Mongolia, but about Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia), you need to look for a position either through a recruitment agency or on foreign sites.

The chance to work abroad is high for representatives of popular technical specialties - programmers, engineers, designers, IT specialists. Good options are offered to financiers, top managers.

Naturally, without knowing the language, getting a normal job in another country is almost impossible. Competition in the job market in countries Western Europe quite high. In addition to local applicants, people from the eastern part of Europe, Turkey and Asian countries seek to find work there.

You can get a job in the Russian Federation in an international company, and then look for opportunities to transfer to a foreign office. If you make every effort and effort, this will be quite a feasible task for an ambitious and purposeful person.

to the civil service

Far from the worst employment option (especially in a crisis). There is almost always a competition for the vacancies of civil servants: they choose the best possible candidate.

The recruitment process is a step-by-step process - first, all your documents and data are reviewed, then a face-to-face or written test for special training is carried out.

Work experience in a specialty (for example, in a bank, if you get a job in the financial part) will be a good help. You can find out about vacancies in the service of the state apparatus on the websites of the authorities of the city or region.

6. How to find a remote job online

Working on the Web is a great option for those who do not want to work according to a schedule and “for an uncle”. Today, on the Internet, you can find jobs in all humanitarian and technical specialties. Linguists, philologists, teachers, designers, lawyers, medical workers, programmers are in demand. We have already discussed in detail in one of the previous articles.

To receive income, you only need constant access to the Web, a bank account or an electronic wallet. Plus the desire to learn and grow. You can find remote work on the World Wide Web on special sites like FL.ru and Workzilla.

Internet business - a relatively new direction, which is becoming more and more relevant. On the Web, you can open your own business (an online store, a legal portal, a school), or you can simply do what you like remotely.

If you are a journalist or philologist, write texts to fill network resources with content. If you are a university teacher, prepare applicants via Skype or help with theses. Any talent can find an application: your skills and abilities can be converted into a cash equivalent.

The Internet has many advantages:

  1. You can work without special education. You can get specialized knowledge here, for example, by studying feature articles, e-learning courses and Youtube videos.
  2. Income is not limited to salary. You set your own bar.
  3. Ability to manage your time. By working remotely, you yourself ration your working day, choose weekends and control the duration of your vacation.
  4. Lots of opportunities for personal growth. Being your own boss, you can carry out the most daring and risky projects.

Of course, it is necessary to grow to a stable level of income - not all at once. And with experience, you will definitely understand how to act more efficiently and competently. You can start right away by opening your own website and promoting it. We have already told you how to create your own website.

With initial investments in marketing and optimization, in a year you can turn your project into a profitable business that brings a stable income.

7. How to look for a job in Moscow

Finding a job in Moscow is certainly not an easy task, especially during the economic downturn. You can count on official vacancies only if you have Moscow registration. Informal employment is a common but risky option. If there is no employment contract, you are in the full power of the employer.

Moving and finding a place in the capital is a challenge for energetic and ambitious people. If you have abilities, knowledge, skills and a suitable education, you can find many options for self-realization in the capital.

Be prepared in advance for a change in the rhythm of life, other prices and a different level of salaries. If you plan to live in a rented apartment, calculate the level of income in advance to cover the cost of rent and still eat normally.

At the end of the article, watch a short educational video on job search:

8. Conclusion

So, now you know a lot more about how to find a job. We hope that our recommendations will help you find a way to earn money that suits you completely in terms of money and in terms of self-realization. We wish you to find a highly paid hobby, then you will not have to work in the standard sense.

Sometimes you have to look for a new job in particularly difficult conditions - not yet quitting the old one. What if there is no way to go to interviews and track vacancies? Read how to act in such a situation!

It does not always make sense to hide from colleagues and the manager that you are looking for another job. However, if you are not yet firmly convinced of your own plans or just want to undertake a “reconnaissance in force” (suddenly something really worthwhile comes across), the search should be done with caution. If you decide to keep everything a secret, you should know a few simple rules.

Keep your resume "closed"

Your CV should be published on a closed access: then only those employers whose vacancies you apply for will see it, and not recruiters from your current place of work. But there is a more daring option: post your resume in partial access, closing it only from the current employer.

Download or update the mobile app

Do not browse job search sites from your office computer - do it at home, but rather use it.

Be careful on social networks: in the comments, do not show interest in any vacancies, do not join open groups like "Jobs for Accountants" (your colleagues may notice this). And, of course, do not publish posts like “I am looking for a job, thanks for the repost.”

Finally get encrypted

Are you sure that your company's HR department doesn't monitor job search sites by entering the name of the company into the search? If you 100% need to keep everything private, replace your company name with its description. For example, instead of MTS LLC, you can write "leading telecom operator."

Conduct all telephone conversations with recruiters only when colleagues cannot hear you.

Indicate in the resume only your mobile phone and personal (not corporate) email address for communication.

Cancel useless interviews

The most difficult thing in this situation, of course, is to go to interviews. How and when to meet with future employers if you have to be in the office at least from 9 am to 6 pm?

Try to minimize the number of wasted interviews. Before making an appointment, ask the recruiter a few questions to make sure that this vacancy is really interesting for you. This will save you the hassle of traveling to interviews.

We decided to meet with a potential employer in person - arrange an interview after hours, for example, at 8-30 am or 7 pm. If this is not possible, ask your current job for a day off the day before or agree on a 2-3-hour absence. Don't come up with systematic "good reasons", just say that you need a couple of hours to sort out pressing personal matters.

Good luck in your job search!

It is known that more than 80% of people are dissatisfied with their work and dream of the day when they can send their boss to hell and take the much-desired application to the personnel department.

I've been working in HR for eight years and I watch these brilliant eyes of a man who came to sign his bypass sheet. His blood is full of adrenaline, he no longer perceives reality adequately, he is all in dreams of a new job and how great it will be there. Another HR promised him more money, a higher position, the love and respect of the team, free cookies in the kitchen and a boss darling.

It is also known that most people gain absolutely nothing by changing jobs. They end up getting the same thing they had at their last job.

Imagine that salary, team, office location, benefit package, boss, work schedule, office environment, development and growth opportunities, the brand of the company and its products are all ingredients of the dish called “work”. So, most people change the ingredients: they go to a higher salary in an office that is another 15 kilometers from home, and they need to work 1 hour more every day. The ingredients have changed but the dish has not improved.

For eight years now, among other things, I have been analyzing the reasons for dismissal in order to fight them later. And in general, my struggle is successful: at all places of work I have reduced the level of turnover from 30-50% to 15-20% and I hope that the thoughts outlined in this article will be able to reduce turnover at the level of the whole country.

So, among the main reasons for turnover, the most popular are:

  • Transition to higher wages.
  • Moving to a higher position.
  • Too much high level load at the current place of work.
  • Changing of the living place.
  • Health.

The first four points are the ingredients of our dish, which usually change to others, but in the end the person gets the same result.

But there are many ways to start enjoying a job you hate without making such drastic changes.

After all, judge for yourself, a job change forces a person:

  • Adapt to new responsibilities.
  • Adapt to the psychological (after all, there is a big unknown ahead, the risk of dismissal).
  • Adapt to social change - new colleagues can be very different from the previous ones.
  • Adapt to physical changes - new office location, new table and chair, new food in the dining room, different light from the window, different temperature.

All this can even lead to illness. I often see new hires fall ill after just one or two weeks on the job. And then they go to work sick, because they are afraid to take sick leave in their first days.

In order to find ways to get everything out of a job you hate, you first need to figure out what your favorite job consists of.

The ideal job consists of the following components:

  • You love to do it.
  • You know how to do it.
  • You may be paid for this.

When all three spheres intersect, a person has an ideal career.

I suggest you take a little test and understand what is happening with your career.

It is necessary to put a number from 1 to 10 opposite each question, where 10 means that you completely agree with the expression, and 1 - completely disagree.

Now add up the scores in each section (professionalism, love, income).

Ideal Career looks like that: 100–100–100 .

The usual career of an average person is: 60-60-60.

This is where you will understand where exactly you have a problem in your career and how you can fix this problem.

In my training, I teach how to find a life's work, how to make a career transformation and how to earn more.

And in this article I want to tell you how to find your zest in your work. This will help to raise the scores in the “love of work” area a little.

Remember the movie Office Romance. For all the heroes, life revolved around a hated job, but everyone found something of their own in it: someone hunted fashionable clothes, someone was secretly in love with the deputy director, someone was an active fundraiser for birthdays and funerals. And in front of us is an office where all people live a full life, smile, communicate and are even quite happy.

k / f "Office Romance"

I believe that each of you is able to find something of your own in an unloved job and get everything from it. And here are a few options that I have seen:

  1. Work for a girl is an opportunity "walk" your new outfit. For girls, new outfits are like air. Without them, they go out. But any new outfit needs to be worn somewhere else. There should be admiring glances, compliments or even gossip from envious people and enemies. And the office is the best place where all this can happen.
  2. Love affair at work. Finding a good husband or wife is very difficult these days. And if you do not have a job, then you can only look in bars and discos. Under a glass of Jack Daniels whiskey, you can find far from the best copy. But the office is a completely different matter. First, you can immediately see the person. Secondly, you can always find out how much he earns. Thirdly, it always adds exotic and extreme to the relationship. Each corporate party turns into a scene from a James Bond movie. I want to be together, but we need to keep secrecy.
  3. If there is already a soulmate, then the next item is friend. Having a friend at work is generally one of the greatest successes. Where else could you spend time with a friend all day long without being reprimanded by your wife? Here you can go for smoke breaks, and chat about life, and during lunch visit the nearest car dealerships or hardware stores.
  4. Run away from home from the child. Of course, a one-year-old child is wonderful. Perfect for about 30 to 60 minutes a day. Well, if dad is automatically lucky in this regard, then mom is no longer so. And work is a great way to arrange a small child's leave. As a result, the child gets a satisfied mother. Satisfied mother receives leave from the child. A happy dad gets a happy wife.
  5. Social benefits. Sometimes the set of benefits is so great that life without them is no longer possible: a company car, insurance for the whole family, free lunches, tea, coffee, cookies in the office, preferential holidays, preferential prices for company products, joint trips, corporate parties, subscriptions to sports clubs. Almost communism.
  6. Schedule. If the work is tired, then you can get the joy of life, strictly observing the work schedule. After all, as usual, you come at 9 o'clock, leave at 19, 20, 21, have lunch at your desk and do not see the white light at all.
And according to the law, you come at 9, every hour you have small breaks, lunch is 60 minutes and you go home at 18. If you follow at least half of these norms, you will feel great relief.
  7. If you are tired of work, start changing the environment. First, very often you can ask for better working conditions, a better location for your office or desk. Secondly, you can ask for a more comfortable and beautiful table, an orthopedic chair, a more powerful laptop, a working mobile phone. You can ask to put a coffee maker, a radio tape recorder, a vase with a flower in the office. The environment has changed- and work became more fun. And buy yourself a cool notebook, a pen and all the stationery.
  8. organize something. You can organize a corporate party, a trip to another city, a karting competition or paintball. You can incite everyone to go to the pub or bowling alley.
  9. Go on vacation for all the days that you have not used before. By law, all days of unused vacation do not burn out, but accumulate. I have met people who, after working in a company for 5-10 years, have from 100 to 200 days of unused vacation. Set yourself a goal use twice as much vacation per year than given to you by law, 48 days. This is 12 days each quarter. Or try going on vacation for a whole month.
  10. Almost every company has a budget for training. find yourself interesting training and ask the company to pay you to participate in it. It is better to train in another city or another country, to travel by train and live in a hotel. Great way to reset your brain.
  11. Business trips. Ask to send you on a business trip. Usually they don’t like to go there, but you, in which you have never been, and feel free to go - a great tour. In the summer it is great to go on business trips to the south coast.
  12. Mentoring. Having guinea pigs is always interesting. Talk to your boss and express your desire to be a mentor to new hires. Firstly, it will allow you quite legally to reduce the load on the main job. Secondly, you can legally chat with newcomers, go on smoke breaks more often and linger longer at lunch under the pretext of “enhanced adaptation”. Beginners will love you for it, your authority will rise, and there is a chance to get an award.
  13. Additional leave for a mother of two children under 15 years old. Few people know that mothers of two children are entitled to an additional 10 days of vacation, which do not accumulate. They should be used on beloved children in addition to the main vacation.
  14. Make a game out of work.

Agree with your colleagues to bet $1 on all the games of the World Cup. Arrange a tote, involve employees of other departments. You can also count who drank more cups or who drank more glasses of beer during the month at Friday gatherings in the pub.
  15. it real example out of life - go to work four days a week instead of five. There are just over 50 weeks in a year. If you go to work four days a week instead of five for a whole year, then you only need 50 days a year. This may be a previously unused vacation or a salary reduction of 20%.
  16. Become an internal coach. More and more companies are starting to create corporate universities, in which ordinary employees act as trainers. This, of course, is a reduction in the load on the main job, often this is a chance to receive a fee for coaching days without compromising wages. And everyone loves the coaches. Well, teaching other people, preparing for trainings, communicating live is a great pleasure. True, if you don't.
  17. Moving to another city. The phrase “it is better to be the first guy in the village than the second in the city” works here. Very often, companies open new offices in other cities where they need "their own people". Such an employee is often rented, paid for travel to native city and back and add to wages. well and work in a new city is a very interesting challenge.
  18. Move to the main office. If you work on the periphery, then look for any way to move to the main office, where the level of wages and future prospects are always higher.
  19. Build a horizontal career. Tired of working in your department? Move to the next one. These are new interesting tasks in the old environment. It will be much easier for you than for a beginner, but you will get great experience and be a more valuable employee.
  20. Participate in all competitions held by the company. Companies often hold quite interesting contests with prizes. Figure out how to beat them and focus on that.
  21. Donor days. If you really want to take two days, but the vacation does not shine, then you can safely donate blood. On the day of blood donation, the employee is not put on absenteeism, in addition, he is given a coupon for another paid day outside of work, he is fed and given a small amount of money.
  22. Register as a speaker at the conference tell me about your experience. If you are skilled in your business and you have something to talk about,
  23. Arrange unusual birthday. Surely, like millions of other people, it is customary for you to order pizza, eat cakes and drink wine with cognac at your birthday. Surprise your colleagues - buy 20 different types of cheese of 100 grams and five bottles of wine from a little-known country with a very complicated grape variety name. Believe me, everyone will discuss your birthday. And instead of the traditional booze, you can bring a coffee machine with expensive coffee (you can even with Kopi Luwak - this is coffee collected from the poop of animals living on a small lake, as in the movie Till I Boxed It) and a box of muffins with seven different tastes. Feed everyone in the morning.
  24. Bring yours to work culinary masterpieces. If you love to cook, start bringing your cakes, croissants and pies to work. A whole day of grateful reviews is provided to you. If you love flowers, start taking care of them all. Let everyone see the results of your labors.
  25. The same goes for other hobbies. Do you like to make horoscopes? Do you work with Amway or Avon? Do you make orders on foreign sites for your husband and child? Do you knit socks? Bring everything to the masses. Share with colleagues and you will get a lot of positive emotions, gratitude and new ideas.
  26. Allocate to yourself 30 minutes a day for reading something interesting on the Internet. Just don't waste your time on social media.
  27. Delegate whatever you don't like. If you have no subordinates, ask your boss so that you only have those who are really interesting. Can not? Ask for free interns. They will gladly do any work for experience, and you will get extra hands.
  28. Figure out what your boss likes about the job and focus on that. If a beautiful presentation about the work of the department is most important to your boss, spend all the time preparing it. If he cares about the positive image of your department within the company, spend a lot of time with colleagues from other departments and build this image, albeit to the detriment of other tasks.

Of course, many will say that if you don’t like the job, then you need to leave it, but this is a topic for a completely different article.

What advice can you give to people who do not like their job, but for various reasons they cannot leave it?

Immediately make a reservation that one hundred percent "idle" work does not exist. All the same, you need to do something: follow, observe, shift, notice, answer, enlighten, or perform some other action. But these responsibilities are so small or simple that there is a feeling of inactivity.

The rating of "unemployed" work is headed by grandmothers, peacefully dozing on chairs between museum halls. Their duties include "supervising the museum exhibition and the process of excursion services to the population", that is, it is necessary to ensure that rare visitors do not touch equally rare exhibits. Sometimes grandmothers break away from knitting or a book, remember their duties and begin to exercise supervision: follow those who are interested on their heels, breathe down their necks, arrogantly scold for ignorance of history and chastise for ... for something.

2. Lifter

The savior of all those stuck must be on the alert - you never know who manages to hang between floors. But elevators do everything better and they get stuck less and less. But the profession remains.

3. Concierge

Another "access" profession. Special luck if you get a house with an intercom or videophone. It remains only occasionally to be distracted from personal affairs in order to say hello to the residents, to note for themselves who left and returned at what time. The position is ideal for those who like to keep abreast of everything. Not only is it your responsibility to monitor the situation at the entrance, but you can also get money for it.

4. Evening babysitter

Parents need to go somewhere, and grandparents are far away. With whom to leave the child? The evening nanny usually needs to feed the children, bathe them, read and play before bed, and put them to bed. All this usually takes 1-2 hours. And if the parents come late at night, the nanny will have time to do a bunch of other personal things, and she will be paid for this time.

5. in a small shop or "island"

In large stores, someone wants to try on clothes all the time, products are taken apart from the shelves and they have to be reported, cosmetics need to be selected, and spare parts must be carried from the warehouse. Another thing is a small shop. People rarely come here, and those who dared to tear them away from an interesting activity can be scared away by a glance or a formidable question “What do you need?”. And that's it - the potential buyer is removed from the store for a long time and you can again plunge into sweet idleness.

In the "islands" it is also convenient to hide in a book or phone and not notice passers-by looking at shop windows. The question can not be heard, and the sign "gone for 5 minutes", exhibited periodically, guarantees 2-3 free hours a day. Even if earnings depend on a percentage of sales, most often they still rely on some kind of minimum salary, which is enough for doshirak and a loan for a cheap book reader.

6. Guard at the checkpoint

A stream of people flows through the fence, independently fixing their appearance. It remains to occasionally check whether the device beeps and whether the metal turnstile is bent.

An acquaintance from the bank said that the smartest person from their team is a security guard who has worked at this place all his life. He has read so many books! she shared. - You can discuss any topic with him. He knows the answer to every question." Still - for 20-30 years of work, you can read thousands of books. If there is nothing else to do.

7. Employee of a private security company

Security services that install call buttons in offices and stores usually deploy a rapid response team in each area so that they can get to the call in a few minutes. Abnormal situations in which you need to press this button occur infrequently. Therefore, employees have to spend days on standby.

A similar team is located near my house. Every time I pass by, I see beefy guys in uniform playing on their phones, watching movies on tablets, or just sleeping. Once I, apparently, found a holiday. Right in the parking lot next to the alley, they installed a portable stove and fried something delicious in a mini-cauldron. I hope that they did not have to be distracted by the call this evening and they managed to taste their street food.

8. Watchman

Some organizations prefer not to install an alarm in a store or office, trusting living people. The watchman usually locks himself from the inside and guards the premises. If a thief occurs, it is recommended to discard personal affairs or wake up urgently, call the police and hide your location until they arrive. Especially if the weapon in this position is not provided.

Watchmen are also invited to guard dachas, cottages, country palaces or villages.

9. Coach in a sports club

There is individual training when you need to work one on one with a client, and there is a duty in the gym, when you just need to make sure that the bike does not run into the treadmill, and 0.5 kg dumbbells are not put in place of three-kilogram ones. The main influx of people who want to work out usually happens in the evening hours. And the rest of the time you just have to be on duty, that is, sit on the simulator, leaf through magazines for visitors or stealthily doze in the back room on mats.

10. Hostess

Smile and wave. Or we don’t wave, but just smile. meets visitors of a restaurant or hotel and escorts them to a table or explains where to find the registration desk (if suddenly someone did not see it from the entrance). Helps visitors navigate at conferences and exhibitions. Her task (and more often girls are taken as hostesses) is to be friendly and attractive. Well, and sometimes something to say.

Either I work or I don't...

In some professions, employment depends on various factors.

In large companies with a small accounting department, everyone will dig into the papers. In a small office where there are 1-2 payments per day and the main to-do list is to check receipts to the account, an employee can pretend to be active or “go to the bank” for half a day.

  • Beauty salon or fitness center manager

In popular hyped places, the flow of customers will be inexhaustible. Where they do not give advertising, they cut their hair crookedly or simply do not want to work, there will be plenty of time for idleness.

  • Wardrobe attendant

In early autumn, when people still do not want to warm up, and in late spring, when shorts with tights and shirts without jackets are preferable, in the wardrobe you can only meet crazy mothers who think that their children are always cold. Wardrobe attendants are counting the days until vacation.

  • laboratory assistant

Depends on the direction of the laboratory. One friend from the forensic department is often delayed, because, unfortunately, there is a lot of work. Another familiar laboratory assistant from the institute will easily decompose a "spider" of four suits and beat off the pigs with big-headed birds.

  • , designer, , copywriter, content manager, SEO specialist, etc.

This block can include any representative of a profession that is incomprehensible to the rest, especially if he is alone in the team. How long does it take to set up a network? How long does it take to come up with a slogan? How many photos can you process in Photoshop per hour? If a person is not tied to any volumes and determines the right amount of time himself, he runs the risk of becoming a lazy person. Since no one controls or understands how to check it (sits at the computer, looks at something there, and okay), you don’t have to try.

Once, on a Moscow train, I became an involuntary witness to boasting: a guy of about 25 proudly told that he was going to the capital to work, and that he had such a place - everyone would be envious. A few minutes later, the neighbors found out that he got a job in some hypermarket as a video monitor, comes for 15 days, sleeps there in the “office”, earns 15 thousand. Rubles. Per month. And he is very proud of his work, or rather, of how he cleverly outwitted his employers: he is paid for doing nothing. Indeed, a worthy cause for pride.

A lazy inactive would-be worker will find a place everywhere to read, dream, play and discuss instead of working.

Who's to blame when there's nothing to do

But sometimes in a situation of unemployment of a worker, not only the employee himself, but also his manager, who:

    poorly assigned tasks

does nothing himself, because his boss, in turn, did not define his tasks,

    does not know how to distribute responsibilities between subordinates (someone more, someone nothing) and control the work process (in time to ask what has been done and how much time is still needed);

too mischievous and his subordinates sabotage the work.

For several months I worked in a team where we had no business at all. A large well-known company, a staff of almost 20 people, it seemed that it was possible to turn the city over with such forces, but ... The architect studied photos of beauties, the creative - Spanish, the designer made up hack work, the journalist replenished the music collection, pumping out everything he could find, the advertising department read, played and arranged a raffle. No, we were not lazy and could mobilize if necessary. It just wasn't needed. No tasks were set before us, but the salary was paid regularly.

Doing nothing and still getting money is a tempting prospect. But you need to understand that payment for such work is most often appropriate. Everyone can “do nothing”, and therefore they will pay a little for it. In addition, such an approach to work excludes career growth. What is more important for you - development, success, promotion or extra hours of laziness?
