In 1989, at the age of eighteen, Balos left Poland for the United States, where his schoolteacher and part-time artist Cathy Gaggliardi encouraged Alcasander to enroll in art school. Iruvan's art is meticulous yet intricate depictions of scenes of village life, streets, various reminders of the village's antiquity, people performing rituals or absorbed in the daily routine that is deeply ingrained in the blood of the villagers. “Coming from Madurai, Tamil Nadu, to the village, I enjoy the feeling of the absence of time in the village and the calmness of its people. As an urban dweller who has lived in Hyderabad for more than a decade, I am fascinated by the intricate interweaving of historical and modern that you see in some of the most iconic places in India. The streets inspire me the most. They come from somewhere and go somewhere else….
There is a feeling as if you are standing at a point called today, with yesterday behind your back and tomorrow in front. People tend to the streets and roads ... they want to get "somewhere" and "something" to do. Anyone can be the characters of my paintings: a man pulling a cart - he just resigned himself to life's difficulties ... a busy merchant who stubbornly walks towards his goal ... a lonely moto rickshaw or a cyclist ... an elderly woman selling flowers and a sleepy dog resting despite the noise ... the continuous movement and change of streets makes people feel alive. Is there a better place to watch life than on the streets?”
The basis for the ascent to professional heights was art education. In 1974 he graduated from the art and graphic department of the Kuban State University. The development of the artist's natural abilities and the improvement of the technical skills acquired during the years of study were facilitated by active creative work, which continued after graduation from the university. Today, the experience acquired by the painter allows him to freely apply to different genres of painting, create landscapes and still lifes, and work in the historical genre.
