The tradition of awarding the best graduates of the school with gold and silver medals came to modern system education from the USSR. These medals are awarded for special achievements in teaching. Previously, holders of gold and silver medals had a number of advantages when entering higher educational establishments. The introduction of the USE has changed general order admission of applicants, but the medal still distinguishes the student from the general number of applicants and, other things being equal, guarantees preference.

More than 50 years ago, gold and silver medals were made from real gold and silver. But since 1954, various alloys have been used in manufacturing, and then they completely abandoned real materials, and medals are currently made from an alloy of copper and nickel and varnished in the color of silver or gold. The inscription is the same - "For special achievements in teaching."

To receive a silver medal, the following conditions must be met:

  • academic performance in grades 10 and 11 should be excellent, only two fours are allowed in each semester;
  • the result of passing the exam should not be lower than the lowest indicator.

Receiving a silver medal does not give obvious advantages to the graduate, but it raises the prestige of the school, is the pride of the student himself. his teachers and parents, provides the status of a "medalist" and entry into the memorable annals of the school. The presence of successful distinguished students characterizes an educational institution with the best side Therefore, proposals to completely cancel the presentation of medals at school in connection with the introduction of the Unified State Examination did not receive support in pedagogical circles.

What should a student who claims a silver medal in 2019 do?

A student who has set a goal of graduating with a silver medal must take a number of steps:

  • communicate your intentions to teachers and school management;
  • highlight items that cause difficulties and pay special attention to them;
  • make an effort to improve grades in all subjects studied;
  • take part in social work, school events;
  • achieve high results at school, district and city Olympiads in various subjects.

The decision to award a medal for each student is made individually at the final pedagogical council of the school, taking into account the grades in all subjects and the social activity of the applicant.

In many regions of Russia, local medals have been approved and are being awarded for special academic achievements. Some universities, when accepting documents, take into account the presence of a gold or silver medal by adding a certain number of points to the USE results.

This year it will be even more difficult for schoolchildren to get the coveted gold medal

From 2018, the conditions for receiving the medal will be even more stringent. The number of medalists will drop sharply. Innovations will provide a complete picture of the student's success, because it is prestigious to receive a gold medal and this should be influenced not only by the subjective position of teachers regarding this or that student.

A gold medal is the dream of many schoolchildren, a reward for dedication and efforts. This year, which was to receive the coveted reward, we must try hard. The criteria for receiving a gold medal are very simple: in the certificate, the student should only have a grade of "five" in any of the subjects for high school, and all the exams must be passed with "excellent".

Receiving a gold medal at school in 2018, how the USE result is taken into account, the history of the gold medal

The gold medal began its journey in Russia in the 19th century, in 1818 the first graduates who studied with excellent marks were awarded real gold medals. After the revolution in October 1917. such awards were eliminated, and they were restored already in 1945. Until 2012, only its appearance changed. In 2013, the Ministry of Education decided to issue only a certificate with honors. But, already in 2014, the President of the Russian Federation signed a law that returned this award back to the federal level.

Getting a gold medal at school in 2018, how the USE result is taken into account, opportunities for medalists

Even 10 years ago, a gold medal opened any horizons and doors. It was enough to come to the interview with admission committee to any university. On the this moment medalists, as well as other graduates, enter according to the general list, taking into account the average score of the certificate and passed the exam. There is still a benefit, choosing between applicants whose average score will be the same, and one of them is a medalist, upon admission to the budget they will take a medalist.

Getting a gold medal at school in 2018, how the USE result is taken into account, changes in legislation

Everyone remembers last year's scandal at Tahtamukay School No. 1. Then when the graduate's mother was accused of using her "connections" to help her medalist daughter pass all the exams and the exam with excellent marks. Although after the checks it turned out that the girl passed all the exams honestly, she decided to pass the medal.

After this situation, the Ministry of Education changed the conditions for obtaining medals. Starting from 2018, graduates will be awarded medals only after passing the Only State Examination for five, if translated into balls, and of course the certificate score remains unchanged - “excellent”. Some fives should be not only for the 11th grade, but also for the 10th.

There is, of course, the opportunity to retake the grade "4" if they were in any of the high school subjects. To do this, a commission is created and the subject is retaken as an exam. Nevertheless, the exam becomes the first place, because if you do it poorly, then all previous efforts become in vain.

The gold medal is not just a toy to remember the school, it is an incentive to be the best, an opportunity to show everyone your willpower and desire for development.

New rules for issuing school gold medals.

From 2018, the issuance of medals in schools will only be in case of successful delivery USE. This rule will spread throughout the country and is designed to eliminate cases of biased presentation of gold and silver medals.

◑ School medals? - only on merit!

The scandal at the Adyghe school with the undeserved award of a gold medal served as an impetus for the measures taken by Rosobrnadzor.

The Public Council under Rosobrnadzor suggested that the department take into account the results of the USE when issuing gold medals to school graduates.

Gold medal at school- this is probably the first cherished trophy that students dream of.

School gold or silver medal(officially - medal " For outstanding academic achievement”) is a distinction issued upon completion of secondary general education in schools in Russia and the countries of the former USSR. The medal is one of the main types of encouragement for high school graduates for academic excellence.

Medal " For outstanding academic achievement", also, is an honorary distinction for graduates of 11 classes, who received the final "5" in all subjects of the school curriculum for the last two years of study.

Most recently, the gold medal For outstanding academic achievement» opened the doors of all universities, however last years its prestige has significantly lost ground.

Numerous cases when a medal was received by schoolchildren who passed the exam rather mediocrely attracted public attention.

According to one of the initiators of the project, the rector of the Moscow Pedagogical University, today the USE is the most effective way evaluate student knowledge. Moreover, this method is already proven, transparent, and the objectivity of the assessment is quite high.

The head of Rosobrnadzor, Sergei Kravtsov, believes that the conditions for awarding medals should be transparent and understandable to both children and parents.

“It is important that they are not used for selfish purposes. An honest USE has led to the fact that students immediately notice and themselves react to any form of incorrect assessment according to additional criteria. Especially in the situation with medals that are entered in the portfolio and taken into account when entering a university.", - said Sergey Kravtsov.

As noted in the press service of Rosobrnadzor, the members of the Public Council, for their part, declared their readiness to analyze the existing practice and submit reasoned proposals for the inclusion USE results in the number of criteria for issuing medals.

The capital already has such experience.

In order to receive a medal for a Moscow student, in addition to all the requirements, it is necessary to score more than 220 points in three subjects of the exam.

Sergey Kravtsov assured that Rosobrnadzor is open to dialogue and is ready to accumulate expert proposals. Since 2018 school year, gold medals For outstanding academic achievement” will be issued only taking into account the results of the exam.
