The COT questionnaire was developed as a selection questionnaire for people applying for further education. The higher your score on this test, the higher your current level of intellectual development, the better your abilities for further learning and cognitive activity.

Low scores are considered to be less than 16 points on the test.

First, a low result may not be reliable enough due to possible errors in compliance with the test conditions and understanding of the instructions. Therefore, a low test result on this test can in no way be a sign of psychological professional unsuitability for any specialty. Secondly, if you did not get a high enough score on this intelligence test, it can be assumed that you will experience certain difficulties in the process of vocational training and further practical activities in the field of creative professions. These difficulties can be caused by one or more of the following:

1) Not Enough high level development of the ability to focus on the tasks to be solved.

2) Insufficient skills in material analysis, abstract thinking, logical reasoning, quantitative calculations, spatial imagination.

3) Insufficient amount of existing knowledge, limited vocabulary, low literacy.

4) Not fast enough mental activity and ability to long-term mental stress.

To successfully complete the test, a certain level of development of verbal, logical, numerical and spatial abilities is required. These qualities are very important in order to be able to learn, assimilate new information, analyze difficult situations and make reasonable decisions. If you do not have these qualities to the right extent, then it may be difficult for you to engage in complex types of intellectual 1 activities, such as studying, solving problems, making non-standard and responsible decisions, organizing your own work and the work of others, management, planning, control, research , design and engineering.

It is in your power to develop your intellectual qualities. After all, the level of development of intellectual abilities is not a person’s height or blood type, which cannot be changed. Intellectual abilities are not only a condition of learning, but also the result of previous learning. 15 or more mistakes - little success in any activity.
The test requires little time for testing and processing the results, however, it gives a fairly accurate prediction of professional suitability.

The success of the test depends on the ability to think logically and reveal the essential connections between objects and phenomena. Recommended for persons over 14 years of age. 20 minutes are allotted for work with the main tasks.

Instruction. The test includes 4 training tasks and 29 main ones. Each task occupies one line, in its left part there are four squares, three of which are filled with drawings, and the fourth is empty. The drawings on the left side are in a certain sequence, which is not finished. Your task is to find a suitable drawing on the right side of the task and write its number in the empty square, thus completing the sequence. What do you think, which of the pictures on the right can take place in the empty square.

After the subject is familiar with the instructions, the professional consultant analyzes the training tasks with him, focusing on the fact that there is only one correct solution. The subject must find this solution.

In case of an error, the experimenter shows the correct solution and explains it. After making sure that the subject understood what was required of him, the experimenter gives the command to proceed with the main task. After 10 minutes, the client should be warned that half the time has passed. After 20 minutes, the operation stops.

It should also be noted that it is better not to get hung up on the implementation of a specific one task. You can return to it later. (Handout and answers are provided below)

The key (answers) to the CAT test (Short indicative, selection test by V.N. Buzina, E.F. Vanderlik.

Intelligence Diagnostic Questionnaire - IQ)

The integral indicator of general mental abilities (IP) is calculated by the number of correctly solved tasks (1 point for each correct answer).

Processing of results and interpretation of the test CAT (Short indicative, selection test by V.N. Buzin, E.F. Vanderlik. Questionnaire for the diagnosis of intelligence - IQ)

The higher your score on this test, the higher your current level of intellectual development, the better your abilities for further learning and cognitive activity.

It is expedient to start the analysis of the results with the determination of the level of general mental abilities. For this, the number of correctly solved problems (Ip) is correlated with the level scale.

The value of the indicator Ip is the level of general mental abilities:

13 and under - low

14-18 - below average

19-24 - medium

25-29 - above average

30 and more - high

A low result may not be reliable enough due to possible errors in compliance with the test conditions and understanding of the instructions. Therefore, a low test result according to this method can in no way be a sign of psychological professional unsuitability for any specialty. Only testing with the help of other methods can also provide reliable information about psychological contraindications to certain professions.

General mental development is determined not only through the amount of points received for the number of correctly solved problems.Qualitative Analysis The test is carried out according to the following parameters:

    - what tasks are solved most successfully (verbal, mathematical, spatial);

    - what are the characteristics of thinking (generalization, flexibility, inertia, etc.).

So tasks 10.13 require the development of arbitrariness, high concentration and distribution of attention.

Tasks 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 16, 19, 24, 28, 30, 43, 47, 48 determine the general level of awareness and development of linguistic abilities, that is, they characterize the quality of humanitarian education.

The level of education in the field of exact sciences is reflected in the success of performing numerical tasks to establish patterns with geometric shapes (13, 17, 22, 27, 33, 42, 44, 46, 50).

Tasks 29, 32, 49 indicate the level of spatial orientation and abstract logical thinking person.

Arithmetic Mean Test Runs for a Series age groups students:

To successfully complete the test, a certain level of development of verbal, logical, numerical and spatial abilities is required. Verbal abilities are responsible for mastering the meaning of various words, understanding verbal analogies, performing logical operations with individual words. This quality is associated with the understanding of the text, the ability to distinguish between the direct and figurative meaning of the statement, to correctly interpret it, abstracting from the meaning of a particular phrase. The degree of logical thinking indicates the ability to understand cause-and-effect relationships, search for patterns, and the ability to draw the right conclusions. Numerical abilities are the abilities for fast and accurate calculations, logical reasoning, possession of arithmetic skills, understanding of mathematical operations. Spatial abilities include spatial imagination, possession of geometric concepts, the ability to mentally operate with objects on a plane and in space.

It is in your power to further develop these qualities. The level of development of intellectual abilities is not a person's height and not a blood type, which are genetically set and which cannot be changed. Intellectual abilities are not only learning conditions, but also the result of previous learning. Intelligence tests do not measure the inclinations and potentials of mental development, but only the level of development of skills and abilities of cognitive activity that you have formed today.
