The title "Teacher of the Year", after all the tests, went to the teacher of history and social studies at the St. Petersburg gymnasium No. 116 - Ilya Demakov. It is worth noting that in 2017 Ilya received this title twice. He also took the top prize in the competition in his hometown- St. Petersburg.

Teacher of the Year 2017: This year's winner Ilya Demakov from St. Petersburg

Ilya Demakov started his teaching career 9 years ago. After receiving a master's degree at St. Petersburg State University, the young teacher got a job at gymnasium No. 116 to teach history and social studies. At the same time, Ilya did not quit his studies and continued research activities. He successfully completed his postgraduate studies and is preparing to defend his dissertation on the administrative activities of Mikhail Lomonosov.

Demakov's pedagogical achievements were evaluated not only at the regional, but also at the federal level. So, in 2013, Ilya Sergeevich took the main prize all-Russian competition"Pedagogical debut".

In his native gymnasium, Ilya finds time for extracurricular activities. He took over the management of the theater studio on German, and also organized a circle of admirers of the writer J. R. R. Tolkien. At the same time, Demakov considers walking around the city to be his main hobby.

Ilya Demakov believes that simplicity and passion for the profession are the key to his success, the portal site informs. He is very proud of his students, many of them were able to achieve high results in science. Yes, there are winners among them. All-Russian Olympiads and young researchers who take part in scientific competitions and conferences for schoolchildren.

“Teaching at school is an active dialogue. Any action (or inaction!) of a student and a teacher will certainly turn into new impressions, a unique experience or a change in mood. At school, everything lives and moves. Naivety and gullibility here go hand in hand with responsibility. But the most important thing is that at school you can always find something that will work well. And any person would prefer to be where he can achieve high results, ”Ilya Sergeevich answers the question of why he decided to take up pedagogy.

2017 Teacher of the Year: 2017 Teacher of the Year nominees

The competition "Teacher of the Year" was decided to be established in 1989. This happened after articles with a proposal to hold such a competition appeared in the main pedagogical publication of that time, Uchitelskaya Gazeta.

In 2017, among the participants of the competition were teachers from all regions of the country, and even several teachers from rural schools. General average age of all applicants was 36 years old, and the teaching experience was approximately 12 years.

This time, 16 teachers of the Russian language, 14 historians, 9 teachers fought for the title "Teacher of the Year" foreign languages and mathematical sciences, 6 teachers primary school and geography, 5 physicists and 4 teachers of biology and computer science.

It is believed that there are many more women among teachers in Russia. But only one representative of the fair sex, the teacher of Russian language and literature, Anastasia Mingacheva from the city of Ulyanovsk, made it to the finals of the “Teacher of the Year” competition. The top five also included mathematics teachers - Vladimir Ponomarenko from Samara and Almaz Khamidullin from Kazan, biologist Ivan Smirnov from the capital, and this year's winner - history teacher Ilya Demakov from northern capital St. Petersburg.

Ilya Demakov, a teacher of history and social studies from St. Petersburg Fontanka, talked with the “main mentor of the country”, who began to appear on the lists of the best back in 2013, and found out what he, a modern teacher, what he expects and what he requires from students.

Ilya Demakov was born in Tyumen. He studied at the 599th school in the Primorsky district. “I was extremely lucky with teachers. Especially with Marina Dmitrievna Mikhailovskaya, my history teacher, thanks to whom I chose my specialty, ”he immediately said. The teacher listens to a variety of music. “I have a playlist of Yuri Antonov,” says the best teacher in the country with a laugh. - I love classical music. I especially love what is called modern classics. Music written by modern composers. Instrumental music. I am not a fan of rock music. Definitely not." Rap battles are the main Russian teacher of 2017 "understands, but does not accept." Regardless of age - only 30 years old.

Was and became

“I studied in the 1990s. And, of course, there is a difference between those years and today, - the teacher of the year 2017 shares his feelings. – First, we have entered the digital environment. Technically, the school has changed a lot. Today, going to work in the classroom, I do not think that there may not be some kind of equipment. The same projection equipment, interactive whiteboard, Internet. These are all self-evident things. When I studied, the lesson was purely technically structured differently. Everything was "by hand".

At the same time, Ilya Demakov is sure that modern technology in itself does not form children's interest in knowledge. "It is possible in good school put in a lot of new technology, but the quality of children's education will not change in any way,” he says. “We are talking about tools that help us be more efficient. Give information in a format that is more familiar to children.

History and school

Even the students of Ilya Demakov were lucky in his convictions regarding their own subject. He is sure that knowledge of history is not knowledge of dates at all, but the ability of a child to see in the space that surrounds you, what was done by human hands before you. A student needs a textbook only if he is sick and stays at home. “In a history lesson, the role of a textbook is secondary,” Ilya Demakov is sure. – But the textbook should be more or less uniform in all schools and all regions of our country. There should not be too many textbooks. The addition of the teacher should not be too variable.”

Ideology and school

“Everything that is changing in relation to history, what is happening now in the world around us, is inferior in importance to the main task. The main ideological load in the lessons of history is that these are lessons about man, the human dimension around us. That is, these are some kind of lessons about the feeling of the elbow, - Ilya Demakov looks at life philosophically. - In my opinion, the ideological task is to help the child accept himself, to be accepted in the team, in the family. I'm sure it will always be like this."

According to Ilya Demakov, there should be an ideology at the state level. “A state without ideology is a very strange phenomenon,” the historian wonders. – It is wrong and wrong to fear or reject parts of our historical path. This is something I'm willing to fight."

Dystopia

Ilya Demakov sees elements of dystopia in Russian reality, but nevertheless specifies that this is a question of the values of this or that person. At the same time, Ilya Demakov is sure that modern children a priori have the ability to navigate a huge amount of very different information. “Both visual, and textual, and in various opinions. For modern children, this is normal, says the historian. “For them, it goes without saying that there is nothing unambiguous around. This is how naively “on faith” modern children no longer perceive anything.

Bureaucracy and school

“My grandmother worked all her life at school as a chemistry teacher. She said that in the 1960s and 1970s, everyone around complained that the teacher was inundated with paperwork. There was no such number of reports, summaries, other papers that they had before or after, - said Ilya Demakov. “Today, again, a similar wave.” But she, the teacher is sure, is already on the decline. “I see positive results in myself and in my school. Something has gone digital. And this greatly facilitates the work, - Ilya Demakov rejoices at the progress. – For example, we moved away from “double bookkeeping”, when we had both a classic handwritten class magazine and an electronic magazine. Electronic is much more convenient. He is always with him. He is always at work. All teachers can use it at the same time. In this sense, it has become easier than it was a year ago.”

Teacher of the Year and digital channels

Ilya Demakov fundamentally does not start a VKontakte account, since social networks, in his opinion, still reduce the share of privacy that any person should have: “Colleagues say that it is very convenient for class management - an account in social networks. But I, along with my guys, have been running my youtube channel for many years. It's really convenient. In addition, I like the format of blogs, which today have grown into a large site for children and adults. We are doing it together with the students.” At the same time, the best teacher in the country is on Facebook.

Teacher of the Year is categorically against the ban on the Internet at school. “This is the reality that has already happened, we live in it. Today, fighting gadgets and the fact that children are constantly in the digital environment is an attempt to fight the future. This is wrong, Ilya Demakov is convinced. “At the same time, this is a challenge for us teachers, which I see in the fact that we must help the children rethink gadgets and the network as a tool for solving real, practical problems.” The historian gave an example of such rethinking: “If a child knows where to look at how exactly the name of a historical figure is spelled, to clarify the date, information, then this is excellent and great. Let him do it through google rather than not do it in principle.

Rest at recess with a smartphone at the ready Ilya Demakov also takes it for granted. “Of course, I am in favor of children talking to each other more, so that they have more physical activity. But there is something in children that absolutely fascinates me. Their amazing intuition for everything related to technology and technology. If this allows them to feel comfortable, relieves anxiety, then this is a change that has already occurred in children. This change needs to be accepted,” he says. And concentration on study is not a hindrance. But swearing is unacceptable at school. But, according to Ilya Demakov, this is something that should be explained to the child not at school, but by parents in the family.

Website for promotion

“Initially, the site was made by my graduates on the platform of the gymnasium site,” said Ilya Demakov. - It appeared because we needed somewhere to put the results of our common work according to our Lomonosov project. Over time, it has grown, we have improved it with the help of various paid and free platforms. The site that works now is still being made by my graduates. We have not invested anything in it except common labor.

Ilya Demakov believes that the shared site provides students with a rewarding experience of publicly presenting their work. “The same work on the Lomonosov project is seen by different organizations,” he explains his thought. – They are monitored by the Presidential Library as part of its projects. When visiting our website and seeing the materials they are interested in there, the Presidential Library has repeatedly offered my children to make the concepts of exhibitions at their base.”
